Back to business E-mail
Today signifies its ‘back to business’ in the Church. Holidays are over, summer sermon series finished and we are geared for the commencement of ‘normality’ whatever shape that make take. Home Connect Groups recommence, KFC (Kid’s for Christ) commences as well as Youth activities and our Little Lambs program for the pre –schoolers. Exciting times are ahead (see our website) www.castlemainecofc.org for what coming up.
Today also signifies the first anniversary of perhaps the darkest day in Victoria’s history. I refer to the Black Saturday bushfires. I remember the absolute horror and despair, the feelings of hopelessness and the overwhelming guilt we all felt as we personally escaped the horror of these fires.  So many of our fellow Victorians suffered so much and so many precious lives were lost. Most of us were touched in some way. From our CFA volunteers in the church to those who had connections with friends and families who suffered so much, in some form or another we felt the effects of this tragedy.
Our hearts went out then and they do again today as we commemorate the first anniversary, a time when a significant number of people are still in shock, or at least in recovery mode. For some life will never be the same. Even in our church community we have had visits from a family that lost everything and have moved to this town to restart their lives. We would hope that they choose to worship with us on a regular basis so we can be part of their care and recovery. To us that would be a privilege we would cherish.
So as we commence a new church year, let’s not forget the past. The past can shape our future as we become more loving and more caring as we learn from the tragedies of the past.
God bless
Blair
